Its close... oh so close

Our church birthday is on this Sunday! Three years old we'll be! Can't wait. We're gonna do a huge launch. But I'll tell you all more about that later :-D
I am now leaving you with pics from Frequency late Friday night. It was our dare night which was fun but not many ppl wanted to do the dares. lol... I can understand why.

lol, this ones from the other week when we all got wrapped with toilet paper to look like mummies.. I'm the one next to my bro whose got his back to the picture. lol soooo funny. I'm nearly totally covered!

Ooooh that gotta hurt. The guys brace themselves for the waxing! We only did one bit of their legs.

Hahaha!!! Trying to blow it up as much as they can so it'll pop. So hilarious.

Painting and Prints

Just posting a whole heaps of photos of some of my works of art at uni. I've finished all my reviews and essay for the semester! So now I can sit back, relax, post and start on some of my commissions. Finally.

This is a much better pic of the busker in Melbourne. This pics above my bedroom door now. It'll get repositioned in my room somewhere after we paint and decorate but uh, that won't happen for awhile. But it looks good where it is! I had a lot of nice comments about it from fellow uni mates, so yeah.

Its my little James! I did quite a few prints of James at uni in my printmaking class. Just played around with the inks and different surfaces with a few others. What ya do with prints is that you get a sheet of metal and cover it in thick black tar. When its dry, you carve outan image on the sheet of metal with a pointy tool then put it in acid. The acid erodes the exposed metal and makes an indent in the metal. You wash off the acid and tar, put painty ink over the plate and then press it to paper in one of those machines. Pretty cool process. You don't know how it'll turn out.

Now this was something that I'd been working on for awhile. The first half of semester I didn't know what to do. Had no ideas at all. It all just started happening the second half of semester. Three of the paintings are of Jane (One of them is unfinished) and the others are of models. I know theres a nude in there. But its an artist thing. I was trying to point out the fact that when you look at all those modelling photos, advertisments, etc, they all look so very unnatural! Even when I took pics of Jane in her room, her expressions weren't natural at all. It was like "Are you done now? This is taking a long time. Are you finished taking pics of me in my room?" Especially the nude painting of that model. Who wakes up in the morning and stretches sexily like that? lol definately not me. I have messy hair everywhere, puffy eyes and lips, morning breath, the works! lol. Wow, I'm a mere mortal.

Just a pic of my painting review. I think it went really well.

I was a mummy!

lol... No. I did not give birth. I was referring to a game we played at youth. There was so much toilet paper everywhere afterwards! Twas a lotta fun. I still reckon the girls won but alas, the guys did. The theme of the night was "Jack vs Jill" - which really was the battle of the sexes, thats if the heading wasn't that obvious to you. The guys and gals came a draw! Which I think is absolutely great. That means we're all as good as each other. Well... Girls are slightly better. And you know it.

This week is all hands on deck at uni! So many reviews and essays due. I'll post a pic or two of my paintings. I've had to do a few life drawing classes, which are really interesting. I love mostly painting portraits so this unit has really helped me in that area.

Anyways, hope ya'll have a good week. Good luck and God bless to all those uni students out there who've got exams on like me!

Some of my paintings that I have to hand in tomorrow for painting class.

This is a rather bad pic of this painting I did cos it was taken off my phone camera. But yeah, I like this painting. Can anyone guess why?

Ooooh... look I'm half a mummy!

Lots of mess.

Who can blow the most bubbles in 5 mins? The boys did - thats only cos they were older and had bigger lungs!

Good bye Jane!

Hey! Did you all have a great long weekend? I did. It was so nice to just relax and hang out with mates. On the Friday afternoon (before the long weekend) I went and caught up with a guy that has a commission by the Vic Park Council to do a huge mural along Albany hwy somewhere. Anyways, hes asked me to help him out, along with a few other organisations within Vic Park. So I've been given a huge section of wall space to do whatever! So thats awesome.

Friday night we had youth. I love Frequency, their such a nice, close nit bunch. Jane came along to her last Frequency night ever. She's from Ireland and shes gone to Thailand for a month and then back home. Shes hoping to come back and work... but she won't be back for another 18 months. She wants to do a Dip Ed at uni and then come back and teach art like me! So she held a little going away party on Saturday which was really nice. She was house sitting one of her cousins mother-in-laws house. Really nice place aye!

So Sunday came along and we all said goodbye to her cos she was leaving that night! Tear! I'll miss her. It was really nice having another art student around aye! She actually understood some of the stuff at the art galleries we went to. I didn't have to explain it to her (much).

Anyways, we didn't have music prac at church that night so we had Sunday arvo to ourselves! We just hung out at Danie and Justin's all night. The next day we all went down to Mandurah. Which I'll post pics of later. We had a great time down there. Its nice to go somewhere different every now and then aye?

Anyways, after a really boring post for all of you I think I'll leave. Have a good one!

At youth playing Beach volley ball.

Playing soccer with straws and a ping pong ball.

Awe, Jane and I at her going away party.

I made Jane a card and drew her baptismal photo on there. It was drawn on white card but the picture came out yello. I think it was the lighting. Anyways, shes going to frame it when she gets back home.
