The so-called Amateur...
I woke up that morning with a stuffed nose and sore throat. I had planned to wake up at 7:30 by my alarm, but was disturbed by the bodies moving around the kitchen, banging doors and making too much noise. I dosed for about 30 mins after that, and got out of bed to have breakfast. The morning went really quickly, after trying to force down my breakfast and having a long hot shower. I left the house at 8:45 with Mums words ringing in my head "Don't be nervous. Just have fun!" I got inside the car and drove around for an hour, until I pulled into the car park of which my fate would soon lie.
I walked into the building and stood waiting for my turn. I was told to sit after awhile, and sat silently, fidgeting with my phone and purse. A man came out and called someones name. I looked up and noticed that it wasn't me that he was calling. I then went back to staring down at my jeans and shoes. Another man came out and spoke a name. I looked up at the mans face and stared, as those words rung bells in my head. I got up and walked over, trying to look enthused and cool. "Goodmorning", I said in my brightest and sweetest voice. The man made me sign a sheet of paper, and then led me out the door. I looked at my instructor and comfortingly slapped me on the back and nodded his head towards the door.
I got outside and tried to talk friendly, but really, the man wasn't interested. I unlocked the car and got in and turned the key in the ignition. From that moment on I was to forget to take the handbreak off, go straight through a stop sign, pull out into on-coming traffic, forget to indicate and blind-spot check, speed and run over curbs. But I did none of these. Instead, I smoothly drove around and as I pulled into the parking lot of the licensing centre, my examiner said the two words I'd been praying about for the last few months - "You passed."
Thankyou GOD! I didn't want to have to go through that again. Although,I wasn't really that nervous. I was hardly nervous hey... Mum's last words did it for me... "Have fun."
So now, I have my log book... and I am going to be driving EVERYWHERE, so I can get my P's.... I've got my birthday cake in hand and have changed back into my PJ bottoms, cos school has been cancelled for the day... as the there is no water or electricity running through after the storm. Isn't it just a beautiful day?
"Its a beautful day! Sky falls, you feel like, its a beautiful day. Don't let it get away..."
